I have checked all the levels in the Windows Sound Preferences. The speaker output is working and the sound card is working because I have Skype set up and the microphone is working fine as well as the headset. In addition, if I plug my iPod directly into the line in on my computer via the line in, it does not work. All the software I have tried shows me only the input options 'Line in', Mic in' and CD Option'. I have tried several of the workarounds for the apparently disabled functions which prevent use from using the Stereo Mix option on these programs like Audacity etc. It's proving to be harder than I thought. I am now trying to rip a few tunes from the audio streams and Youtube. He wants to listen when he is getting driven around by my Mom, and he asked if I can make him a CD of his fave music. My Dad is 80 years old and one of his pleasures is listening to streaming audio (mostly Indian music that I found for him). I hope we can be spared the obligatory lectures here. I purchase CDs and downloads simply to support the artists after I have heard a tune I like - I do this all the time. I am a musician and well aware of copyright and intellectual material issues surrounding digital media. First off, thanks for all those who helped me in the last thread where I was trying to get my Dad's word processing files sorted out.
